Surface TV Series - NBC
Short was the North Carolina on set VFX supervisor. Duties: Laying out sequences with directors, storyboarding sequences, rehearsing actors and overseeing the make-up effects for the series . Senior VFX supervisor Mitch Suskin was located in Los Angeles.
In addition to his on set VFX supervision Short designed the character of "Nim", the tiny sea serpent adopted by Miles.
STORYBOARDING - Surface
One of Short's specialties is storyboarding of VFX sequences with directors while on set or distant locations. Here is a sample showing his ability to board sequences in a creative and effective manner that results in clear communication between the director and VFX team.
Outsourced - TV Series
Mumbai VFX Plate supervisor. Short also was responsible for all establishing shots and "life in the streets" sequences.
Exit Strategy - Fox Pilot
Working directly with director Anton Fugua, Short was responsible for all on set VFX plates and storyboarding of sequences. Short also traveled to Shanghai for the location shoot acquiring VFX plates as well as general coverage of the city itself for establishing shots and "life in the streets". During post he worked with in-house PIXOMONDO supervisor Art Codron. Senior VFX supervisor was Kevin Blank.
Star Trek: Voyager - "Distant Origin" Episode
Working under the direction of VFX supervisor Mitch Suskin, Short created the final design that the computer extrapolates as the current evolution of the Hadrosaur.

Short not only served as the location VFX supervisor but also oversaw the creation of the more complex makeup effects during the run of the series.
Sabrina Down Under - TV movie
Robert Short Prods inc. designed and created the Merfolk for this "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" TV movie. Short and his crew built the tails in Los Angeles and supervised them on location along Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

Short and his crew were responsible for the animatronic aliens, hybrid babies and make-up effects throughout the mini series.

For this award winning episode Short created an animatronic rhino that would be at the center of controversy when audiences thought the dying animal was real.

Design and fabrication of the super family super suits. The Mom and Dad reflect a 60's vibe while the youngsters reflect a 90's super hero style.
