The Retaliator aka Programmed To Kill - Written by Robert Short
The corpse of a beautiful Middle Eastern terrorist is outfitted with a special computer, programmed to reanimate and to seek and destroy other terrorists. The trouble in this sci-fi actioner begins when something goes wrong and she tries to kill her creators. Review excerpt: Bergman stars as Samira, one member of an elite terrorist squad who are seen in the opening mowing down and kidnapping a bunch of clean-cut American tourists. It’s actually quite a gripping scene, which sets the tone for a movie that goes on to contain a fairly constant stream of action and suspense that – while not exactly an unexpected classic – does what it sets out to better than most low-budget actioners of this calibre.
As a DGA director Short has helmed features "Programmed To Kill", TV series episodes of "Super Force" and music videos such as "Shine On Me". His training includes studies at ULCA under Jere Weiss and the Mark Travis Workshop.
